The Young Furniture Makers Exhibition, a showcase of burgeoning furniture and design talent organised by The Furniture Makers’ Company, returns to the City of London for one day this October, giving the industry an opportunity to encounter the future of design.
The event, which is sponsored by Axminster Tools and Sanderson Design Group and supported by the January Furniture Show, will take place on Wednesday 12th October (3pm-9pm) at Furniture Makers’ Hall and the Dutch Church in Austin Friars, London.
More than 100 young designers from schools, colleges and universities, plus graduates from across the UK will be presenting pieces, including furniture and lighting, intended for the domestic and contract markets.
The exhibition welcomes people from the industry as well as those in education, including school groups, providing an environment to connect, encourage and inspire.
Tony Attard OBE DL, master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, will welcome guests from the furniture and design community at 7pm before renowned designer and craftsman Will Hardie announces the winners of the 2022 Young Furniture Makers Awards.
The awards being presented are: The Bespoke Award, sponsored by Axminster Tools; The Design Award, with prizes sponsored by Ercol; The Textiles Award, sponsored by Sanderson Design Group; The School Design Prize; and The Best in Show Prize, with prizes sponsored by Blum.
Jonny Westbrooke, CEO of The Furniture Makers’ Company, says: “The Young Furniture Makers exhibition is an extraordinary and unmissable celebration of talented young designer-makers, many of whom are in the early stages of their career and looking for guidance and employment. We encourage everyone to come and meet the future of design at the exhibition.”
