Heimtextil to host series of talks on internet advertising and selling

Online trading and marketing are currently some of the widely-discussed issues in the industry. The forthcoming Heimtextil exhibition in Frankfurt am Main (8-11 January 2014) will include a special two-day lecture series for retailers and e-commerce novices. Throughout the trade fair the Webchance Academy – a lecture forum on successful internet advertising and selling – will provide information on opportunities in online selling and marketing. E-commerce experts will share their insights on the latest developments in online marketing. Also, retailers will report on their web activities, their entry into internet commerce and their journeys towards becoming multichannel suppliers.

After the successful premiere of the specialist forum Webchance last year, Heimtextil will again be offering expert information on matters of e-commerce in 2014. This is why Messe Frankfurt has created the Webchance Academy in this form. Targeting trade visitors, especially small and medium-sized retailers and interior decorators, the forums seeks to provide readily understandable, practical presentations that will convey the required know-how on setting up and operating websites, on online marketing and on webshop design. The forum will be held on 8 and 10 January 2014, in the Lecture Square at Galleria 1, each time from 12:00 to 17:00.

“Trends in online marketing and selling are currently at the focus of conventional retailers, so that the inclusion of the Webchance Academy will offer considerable added value to our trade visitors. It’s a place where they can listen to exciting first-hand reports from the online world, as it’s a forum for retailers by retailers,” says Meike Kern, project manager at Heimtextil. As a large proportion of visitors and exhibitors will be international, the presentations will be simultaneously interpreted into English.

One of the speakers at Heimtextil will be Fernanda Conti from the designer furniture online shop Avandeo. Being responsible for e-commerce and online marketing, she will provide insights into the demand for furniture and home textiles on the internet as well as on the appropriate proportioning of online and off-line advertising in one’s marketing mix. Volker Geyer, the owner of an interior decorating and home improvement business called Aperto Handwerk & Wohnen, will explain how his business has been gaining customers, obtaining orders and generating growth through online marketing and social media activities. He is an interior decorator and business economist, and his website recently won the German Trade Site of the Year Award 2012.
