Stevenage MP joins Furniture Village board

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, has joined the board of Furniture Village as a non-executive director.

Stephen has been a consistent supporter of the work of The Furniture Ombudsman (headquartered within his Stevenage constituency), becoming chair of its board of directors in 2014. He also sits on a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) – including acting as chairman of the Furniture Industry APPG – and, in this capacity, he will be officially opening the January Furniture Show at the NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 13th January.

The Liverpool-born MP first met Furniture Village co-founder and CEO Peter Harrison at the House Of Commons in 2012, when the MP was a guest speaker at a lunch organised by City Of London Livery Company, The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.

Peter Harrison comments: “We are delighted to welcome Stephen McPartland to our board, and look forward to benefitting from his insight and experience.

"Stephen is committed to maintaining the health and the high standards of our industry, being considered by many as its fiercest champion. At a time when Furniture Village has just experienced a record first full week of sale, Stephen’s support is a real endorsement of our business practices, and he brings a unique set of skills which will help ensure the company’s continued growth.”
