Brand synergy results in groundbreaking product

Two major brands in the world of comfort unveiled a unique new product at the January Furniture Show.

The Tyler chair and sofa range is a collaboration between La-Z-Boy UK and Mammoth Technologies, which is set to bring genuine physiological benefits to people’s lives.

While La-Z-Boy is famed for its innovation in recliners and motion furniture, Mammoth is synonymous with its unique Medical Grade Foam, which has led to its mattresses being clinically proven to offer a better night’s sleep. Mammoth is a partner of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Tyler range has been developed with the advice of specialist Chartered Physiotherapists to ensure the optimum ergonomic design for good posture and a more comfortable sit.

La-Z-Boy UK’s joint MD David Winter says the response to the product had been overwhelming. “We knew we had created something totally unique that would fill a real gap in the market and that was proven by the response we received at the show.”

“There was a real buzz about the stand and retailers were genuinely excited about the specialist benefits offered by Tyler. We are delighted at the hugely positive feedback and the level of orders.”

Founder and MD of Mammoth Technologies, John Tuton, explains that the Tyler range is the result of a rigorous 12-month product development process. “We had been wanting to utilise Mammoth’s unique Medical Grade Foam formulae within a chair for some time,” explained John.

“When I met David last January we got talking and it became clear that both our brands had unique benefits. We realised that the synergy from combining our expertise could lead to the creation of a product which would be a world-first, as well as something the market had been crying out for. We set about developing just that and the results speak for themselves.

“Not only have we created a product which is pressure-relieving, breathable, helps with pain relief and keeps people comfortable for longer, it looks fantastic and has a flexible selection of options which the whole family can use and enjoy. This is important to give elderly, infirm or injured individuals a sense of pride and dignity.”

The Tyler range comprises a three-seater, two-seater, and chair, all available as power or latch recliners or static chairs, as well as a Lift ‘n’ Rise model. All options are available in the full range of La-Z-Boy fabrics and leathers. Mammoth’s Medical Grade Foam is incorporated in all surfaces of the chair which come into contact with the user.

The Lift ‘n’ Rise model features particular benefits for users with mobility problems. Its patented, nil entrapment frame-in-frame design ensures that the mechanism is kept safely enclosed at all times and independent motors allow the leg rest to be raised with, or without, the back reclined. Importantly, the chair features a back-up battery power supply in case of a mains power failure, meaning that users would still be able to operate the chair in the case of a fault with the electrical power supply.
