Homeworthy pays respects to Gwynne Powell

Former Homeworthy Furniture agent for the South Wales and West, Gwynne Powell, has sadly passed away at the age of 86. Gwynne represented Homeworthy for over 30 years, starting when the factory was based in Edmonton, London, and continued to represent the company when it relocated to Sunderland following acquisition by the Silentnight Group. He also represented many other furniture companies during his long career, including Evans International.

During his spare time he and his wife Doreen won many awards and trophies for ballroom dancing. Gwynne also devoted much of his spare time as Captain of the City of Swansea Swimming Club, and helped support many charities with his friends at the masonic lodge. He was also a long-time member of Swansea’s Hafod Brotherhood Football Club.

Gwynne leaves his devoted wife Doreen, much-loved daughter Sue and his two grandchildren, Ben and Lauralee. His funeral will be held on Wednesday 28th October at Morriston Crematorium, Swansea, at 3pm. His daughter Sue is creating a memory piece in his honour – if any former colleagues or customers have any amusing stories or photographs of Gwynne, she would be pleased to recieve them by email to [email protected]
