Chris Muir will join retailer ScS as chief financial officer and an executive board director on 4th April. The appointment follows the decision by Ron Turnbull, current CFO, to step down from the board and resign from the company. Ron will remain in his role for as much of the current financial year as is necessary to ensure a smooth handover to Chris.
In 2011, Chris was appointed group finance director of Northgate plc, one of Europe's leading specialists in light commercial vehicle hire and a member of the FTSE 250. Chris joined Northgate in 2003 as a group accountant and has since held a number of senior UK and group roles, including UK finance director and acting group CEO in the summer of 2014. He is a chartered accountant, having qualified with Deloitte in 1999. For the year ended 30th April 2015 Northgate announced revenue of £614m and profit before tax of £83m.
Alan Smith, chairman, comments: "I am delighted to welcome Chris to ScS. He brings substantial experience to the board and will be an extremely valuable addition as we look to further grow and develop our business. I would also like to thank Ron for his huge contribution to the business and wish him well in his future endeavours."
Chris adds: "I am extremely pleased to be joining ScS and look forward to working with David Knight and the rest of the team. The company is at an exciting time in its development, with a well-thought-out strategy for growth and a promising future ahead."
