Dams celebrates 50 year anniversary

2017 is set to be a big year for Dams, the office furniture specialist, as it marks 50 years of company heritage and commitment to the office furniture industry.

In 1967, Barry Scott started DAMS (Dictating and Adding Machine Service) as a one man operation purely to do repairs to business machines. During the late 1960s Dams started selling metal filing cabinets, and by the mid-1970’s the company had moved into new premises with a small showroom and warehouse and began selling desks and seating.

There have been more than a few ups and downs over the recent past, but today Dams is a successful, strong and growing business, uniquely placed to meet the diverse, ever changing needs of the office furniture market.

“The 50 year anniversary marks an important milestone for the company as we look back on our proud heritage as a well-respected UK manufacturer and wholesaler of office furniture.” says MD Chris Scott. "We have achieved this milestone through the hard work and dedication of all our employees over the years, with a commitment to supplying quality office furniture products and providing unsurpassed customer service.”

Today, Dams is still a privately-owned company, employing over 230 people and operating from 3 sites in Knowsley, Merseyside. In the last year, Dams manufacturing operations made a record number of furniture products. The wood factory produced over 1.8m wooden panels with the upholstery department processing over 66,000 upholstered seating and screen products.

This is supported with over 125,000 sq ft of dedicated office furniture warehousing space with high levels of stock availability, and a distribution centre that delivered over 150,000 orders last year with multiple delivery options for dealers to select the delivery service that best suits their business needs.

Dams product portfolio is diverse, with unique product offerings that are sought after for their compelling design, quality and value. With a range of over 3500 stocked items including desks, seating, storage, screens, tables and the dedicated social spaces range, Dams is a one-stop solution for workplace needs.
