Hypnos invests in apprenticeships and creates 150 new jobs

Castle Donington-based bed manufacturer Hypnos has made investing in future generations of the UK’s manufacturing industry a priority, thanks to its on-going apprenticeship scheme and plans to fill 40% of its projected 150 jobs over the next five years through apprenticeships.

The scheme, which has been running for six years, has recruited a number of talented apprentices, offering new recruits on-the-job training, ensuring that traditional skills are not lost and providing the opportunity to move into further education.

Recognising the pivotal role that apprenticeships have to play, Hypnos will be also introducing its ‘pop-up job shop’ scheme over the next two months. Visiting secondary schools within a 10-mile radius of its Princes Risborough and Castle Donington sites, the initiative will help to educate youngsters about the exciting and engaging job opportunities available in the manufacturing industry.

Stephen Ward, group managing director at Hypnos, says: “At Hypnos, we are committed to supporting the manufacturing industry by providing young, talented people with apprenticeships and jobs that will help them to prepare for specialist roles.

“Our five-year business plan shows how we will continue to grow the business and creating 150 jobs will be a significant part of that across our Princes Risborough and Castle Donington sites. As part of this, our intention is to bring in a minimum of 12 young people per year into the company on an apprenticeship basis.

“What’s more, our pop-up job shop, run in partnership with local secondary schools, will link together industry and education to show pupils the benefits of manufacturing and presenting it as a viable career option. For those interested, this will be followed by factory tours at Hypnos and individual career discussions and mentorship.

“Sadly, working in manufacturing doesn’t have the appeal it once had and our aim is to engage with young people and change that opinion, ensuring that well-trained, dedicated professionals continue to enter this diverse and exciting industry.”
