BFM appoints new MD

Nick Garratt, formerly of Ercol, is to become the new MD of the British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) association on November 5th.

He succeeds Jackie Bazeley, who has held the post since 2011.

Nick qualified as an engineer and holds an MBA. Following an early career in engineering and automotive businesses, Nick then moved into the furniture business holding senior positions with Parker Knoll and Silentnight. Nick moves to the BFM following 13 years with Ercol, where he originally joined as operations director and then as MD for the last five years.

Jackie will stay on in a part-time capacity to assist with the next London Fabric Show and SupportAbility project, and will fully retire from the organisation mid-2019.

Nick says: "Having served on the board of directors of the BFM for a number of years, I would like to thank Jackie for the terrific job she has carried out modernising and moving the organisation forward. It is now a real privilege for me to now step up to the role as MD. I am looking forward to working with the team and the board to further improve the service we offer to our members."

Jackie adds: "It has been a privilege working for the BFM and I have enjoyed my time with the association and expanding my network and knowledge within the industry. I know it is in safe hands with Nick and he will advance the BFM further to the benefit of members. I wish both him and the association all the best for the future. I am now looking forward to spending time with my partner, family and friends."

Jackie has been instrumental in reviving the trade association's London Fabric Show, increasing visitor figures YoY to see record levels for the 2018 exhibition. She was also responsible for the rationalisation of the organisation and consolidating its assets.
