JYSK to open in Leeds this month

This month, the largest Danish retailer operating globally, JYSK, will add to its growing estate of UK stores with a brand-new opening in Leeds.

On Thursday 26th August, JYSK will open the doors of its new store in South Retail Park, Tulip Street, Leeds, marking the brand’s 24th store in the UK and its third opening this year so far. The new store will join others in the region - York, Bradford, Dewsbury, Pontefract and Wakefield.

JYSK says this is a major opening for the business, and Leeds shoppers will be able to spot billboards around the city in the coming weeks, while Capital Yorkshire listeners will be treated to an online giveaway to win vouchers ahead of the opening.

“Leeds is one of the top five largest cities in the UK, so to put our JYSK mark on the map here is a really exciting milestone for us”, says Jenny Johnston, sales and marketing manager, UK and Ireland. “We already have a strong customer base in Yorkshire so it feels a real accomplishment that we can go one step further and bring our products right into the metropolis of the region, in Leeds. What’s more, this is the first store this year that we have been able to open without any lockdown restrictions. That in itself feels like a huge achievement and reason to celebrate, after such tumultuous challenges felt across the entirety of the retail sector over the last year.”

The new store will generate 15 new jobs for the local city and community, with active recruitment for its final few team members still under way.
