FIRA invites trade to tour new facilities

Following its move to new custom-built facilities, furniture testing house FIRA International has confirmed the first of a number of open days to be held in January and February 2022.

FIRA International remain in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, with the new facilities close to its former location in Maxwell Road, where it had been based since 1964.

The open days aim to showcase the new UKAS-accredited facilities, where delegates will get a full tour, including seeing flammability tests in action, an overview of the structures test bay, an insight into how FIRA's experts test finishes for worktops, etc, and the ergonomics laboratory. There will also be an opportunity to meet the experts and ask questions, alongside information about FIRA International’s work on behalf of the Furniture Industry Research Association.

Howard James, testing and technical manager at FIRA International, says: “We’re very proud of our new facilities and look forward to opening our doors to familiar faces from across the furniture sector, and welcoming those who are new to FIRA International.

“Due to the pandemic we’ve really missed the opportunity to share what we do with a wider audience, and we’ve had many requests to have the opportunity to visit Cockerell Close and see our new home. These open days will be the first in a more regular series, so if anyone is unable to attend in Q1 there will be further opportunities to come along, meet our experts and see everything we do here at FIRA International.”

The first set of Open Days are confirmed for: Tuesday 18th January (pm); Thursday 20th January (am); Tuesday 1st February (am); and Thursday 3rd February (pm).

All will run the same agenda, and early booking is advised, here.
