Charity ball raises nearly £17,000

The Step 2 It Charity Ball, a fundraiser organised in aid of The Furniture Makers’ Company to celebrate the success of the charity’s year-long campaign, raised nearly £17,000.

Around 100 guests attended the ball, which was held on Friday 25th March at the Landmark London hotel, Marylebone.

The evening commenced with a drinks reception in The Drawing Room, with guests enjoying a four-course dinner in The Marble Ballroom cooked by executive chef Gary Klaner. Following dinner, a charity auction took place with special guest Eric Knowles, antiques expert, auctioneer and television personality. Once the auction was complete, guests enjoyed live music from the Jazz Dynamos.

The Furniture Makers’ Company would like to thank Lizzie Shaw, director of Celtheath, for organising and overseeing the fundraiser, which raised a total of £16,800 for the charity.

Step 2 It has been the charity’s largest-ever fundraising campaign, which has been running since May 2021 and will end this month. Step 2 It has encouraged companies and individuals to organise sports-based challenges in aid of the charity. The total amount raised for the Step 2 It campaign will be announced in May, but the figure has already surpassed the charity’s £250,000 target.

David Woodward, master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, says: “My thanks to everyone who attended the Step 2 It Ball and helped us raise such a phenomenal figure. The surroundings were superb, the food was excellent, and everyone looked like they had fun and enjoyed a great evening – we really did have a ball.”
