Sustainability and gender dynamics are two of the key topics being discussed at the third New Makers’ Conference, organised by luxury design and joinery brand, Artichoke and The Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry.
The New Makers’ Conference – sponsored by Artichoke, Axminster Tools and Halstock – is taking place on Friday 10th May from 9:30am to 4:30pm at Wells Museum in Somerset.
The New Makers’ Conference offers a platform for emerging talent to network with peers, learn from industry experts and discuss key themes affecting the sector. With a line-up of known industry figures and thought leaders, attendees can expect engaging discussions on various topics crucial for shaping a successful career in the furniture industry.
Key themes will include: Building a Sustainable and Viable Business and Brand; Navigating Gender Issues and Achieving Balance; and Embracing Sustainability.
The conference boasts an impressive line-up of speakers, including: Donna Bellingham, CEO of Shackletons; Daisy Brunsdon, designer-maker, and TV tutor; Simon Burvill, founder of Gaze Burvill; Simon Elliott, MD of Halstock; Matt Estlea, designer-maker and YouTuber; Ben Lihou, MD of Artichoke; Dids MacDonald, CEO of Anti Copying in Design; Sarah Myerscough, gallery owner; and Edward Tadros, former chairman of Ercol.
