The world’s leading event for Scandinavian design, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair/Stockholm Design Week, returns to Sweden this February. Project area manager Cecilia Nyberg tells us more …
Identity: Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is the world's leeding meeting place for Scandinavian design. Here you’ll find brand-new arrivals of furniture and the latest lighting design.
Visitors: Around 40 000 visitors from 80 different countries.
Exhibitors: Around 700 exhibitors (80% of them companies from Scandinavia).
What’s new this year? New for this year is that Design Bar, which combines an exhibition with a top-class restaurant, and has been moved to Victoria Hall and integrated with Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks.
Together, they form a completely new area for conversations, food and meetings. Designer Lucha Nichetto created the framing and the concept, Ratatouille Arena, and chef Lina Ahlin from Agrikultur in Stockholm created the menu.
Another addition this year is that Greenhouse, the fairs section for independent designers and design schools, which has moved to a new and larger area in Hall C.
Also new is the Best Performance award – a distinction awarded by the Greenhouse jury. This year, there are 39 stands, with independent designers and 27 design colleges from 17 different countries at Greenhouse.
What is the main factor influencing the direction of the show? The goal is to further strengthen the interests of Swedish and Scandinavian design, both nationally and internationally.
How do the events taking place in the wider city at the same time as the furniture fair interact with the exhibition? Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, together with Stockholm Design week, are the world's leading meeting place for Scandinavian design.
With the trade fair at the middle of it all, the entire city will be buzzing with around 200 events, installations and parties. This year’s Stockholm Design Week will also include our own unique light installation in Kungsträdgården.
What makes your show better than any other similar furniture event? Here you can see the best of Scandinavian design! At the fair you can get an overview of all the new products and trends in the industry, for both the home and public environments. All the premium brands exhibit here, as well as the young and upcoming talents.
