imm cologne braces for Das Haus shake-up

Every year, international interiors show imm cologne presents Das Haus, an installation that simulates a residential house and reflects a personal vision of contemporary living, created by young designers from around the world.

Covering an area of some 180 sqm of hall 3.1, Das Haus – Interiors on Stage is constructed and fully furnished according to the edition’s nominated designer, which, in 2019, is Australia’s Studio Truly Truly.

“We’re delighted to blaze a trail for inquisitive design with our version of Das Haus,” announces Truly Truly. “We see the project as an opportunity to question some of the typical ways our living environment operates and to work up alternatives. The space that we’re developing for Das Haus will be unfamiliar yet inviting at the same time – in a balance between abstraction and warmth.”

The studio comprises Kate and Joel Booy, a couple from Brisbane, Australia. They have worked for institutions such as the Nationaal Glasmuseum in Leerdam and the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, plus brands including Tacchini Italia, Dexter, Ikea and Rakumba, designing products and objects for interiors, lighting, textiles and spaces.

“With Studio Truly Truly, we have secured representatives of the younger design generation who are just as multicultural as they are interdisciplinary,” comments Dick Spierenburg, imm cologne’s creative director. “I’m afraid they’re going to turn Das Haus on its head! But that’s exactly what we want – to always open new perspectives on living options.”

The exhibition will take place from 14-19th January at Cologne’s Koelnmesse exhibition centre.
