The May Design Series, a new commercial contract and retail trade event, provided a single destination for four of the most important design trade exhibitions, from 19th-21st May, at London’s ExCeL.
The May Design Series comprised: Interiors LDN, a homage to the best contemporary British and international designs in furniture and interiors; DX, a celebration of pioneering design excellence; The ARC Show, a showcase of some of the finest architectural and decorative lighting; and kbb LDN, bringing together innovative design in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry.
Bringing the event to life was creative genius Ab Rogers. He has previously devised original and playful schemes for Tate Modern, the Pompidou Centre, the Science Museum and Comme des Garcons. With The May Design Series, he intends to rewrite the rules of trade exhibitions, to create a visionary experience like no other.
Running alongside the exhibition was the Conversation Series – a programme of inspirational talks from industry leaders. Just some of the names not to be missed included prolific designer Karim Rashid, the team from Global Color Research, Mark Catchlove from Herman Miller, and Leo Schouten from Prooff.
The May Design Series was timed at the end of the European show cycle to enable visitors to see the latest designs launched both in the UK and across the globe. For those who missed the earlier European shows, DX Freight presented a selection of products, selected by industry editors – The Schemer curated items from Maison&Objet, Architonic those from imm cologne, DX London those from Stockholm, and Blueprint those from Milan.
In recognition of the quality and visitor experience offered by the May Design Series, it is the only London-based trade event to be backed by the the Society of British Interior Design (SBID).
Leading brands to see across the May Design Series, covered lighting, flooring, furniture, fabric and soft furnishing accessories, include Materia – exhibiting for the first time in London – Ligne Roset, Hitch Mylius, Vi-Spring, Deirdre Dyson, Rolf Benz, Timorous Beasties, Boca Do Lobo, Poggenpohl, Blum, Erco and iGuzzini.
The May Design Series put the creative buzz back into trade exhibitions, with exclusive exhibitors, Ab Rogers’ innovative show experience, and a full programme of inspirational speakers set to impress the A&D and retail community.
