Salone Internazionale del Mobile

I Saloni has long been the leading global event for the creative design industries, hosting a wide range of innovative furniture, furnishings, lighting and office solutions. This year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile exhibition will house over 2500 participants in an overall exhibition area of 530,000m². As always, a host of other events linked to the worlds of design, art and culture will take place in the fair grounds and throughout Milan.

Thousands of design professionals will descend on the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho, Italy, this month to discover the latest trends and product launches from a wide range of leading names. The 52nd national – and 35th international – edition of Salone Internazionale del Mobile has been tagged ‘Milan: interiors of tomorrow’, highlighting its emphasis on innovation.

Over 300,000 visitors from 160 countries are expected to attend the event. Claudio Luti, president of the show’s organiser, Cosmit, says: “The key to our success is ensuring that the Salone is the hub of innovation par excellence. It retains its position of leadership by ensuring that the trade fair is synonymous with innovation and offers a real preview of upcoming sectorial goods.”

The 27th edition of the International Furnishings Accessories Exhibition will welcome 1400 exhibitors in 14 pavilions over an area of 151,000m². Furniture and furnishings will be the main foci of the exhibition, with product launches taking place across a variety of sectors. Bedroom, dining room, occasional and outdoor furniture will take centre stage, alongside accessories, ornaments and fabrics.

Euroluce, the International Lighting Exhibition, will be strategically located in four pavilions between the Porta Ovest and Porta Sud. A wide range of lighting solutions – from indoor, outdoor and special-purpose lighting to lighting systems and illumination technology software, will be displayed in a 38,000m² space.
Situated directly opposite Euroluce, the 16th edition of SaloneUfficio, the International Workspace Exhibition, will promote a host of furniture and furnishings for offices and public spaces.

Innovative design will also be found at the SaloneSatellite exhibition. The 3000m² space will be home to 700 promising young designers, including students from 17 international design schools. Participating designers have been chosen by a committee, which comprises prominent figures in the world of design, architecture and the media – including Living Divani’s Carola Bestetti, architect Carlo Colombo and Metropolis magazine’s Paul Makovsky.

This year’s theme is Craftsmanship & Design: Together for Industry, and the exhibition will explore the integration of traditional craftsmanship with modern technological possibilities. For its fifth competition, SaloneSatellite has asked participants to present at least one other design belonging to the product categories at Euroluce and SaloneUfficio alongside their qualifying prototypes.

In short, I Saloni looks set to produce yet another impressive edition, with innovation and quality at the forefront. The event will take place at the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho, Italy, from 9-14th April.
