Sleep area to expand at imm cologne

imm cologne is one of the most important trade fairs for the European mattress industry. It is not only the sector forum, where trade visitors can find information about the new products on the market, but also a product showcase that reaches end consumers on public days. That is why Hall 9, where the products from the Sleep segment are located, is usually booked out well in advance of the trade fair’s opening. The hall is booked out so early for two reasons – the strong demand for space from many new exhibitors as well as long-time exhibitors’ interest in acquiring larger stands.

“Because our exhibitors once again require significantly more space than is available in Hall 9 — the area where this segment has traditionally been located – we have decided to expand this segment to include Hall 5.2 this year,” says Frank Haubold, vice president of trade fair management at Koelnmesse.

“I am delighted that we have been able to make imm cologne the trend and business platform for our segment,” says Dr. Ulrich Leifeld, Managing Director of the Fachverband Matratzen-Industrie (German Mattress Industry Association), commenting on the current rate of registration. “With Tempur and Recticel, we have been able to win back two of the most important players in the segment. Both of these companies have expressed their willingness to move into the new location in Hall 5. That means this hall will attract a lot of attention from the very beginning.”

The complete range of products associated with sleep will be presented by many exhibitors, including the Hilding Anders Gruppe, ADA Möbelfabrik and Badenia Bettcomfort. Just about everything that helps people to sleep in a healthy and restful way will be showcased. The products on display will include beds, waterbeds, mattresses and sleeping systems as well as bed linens and accessories.

Thanks to high-tech innovations, mattresses are of an increasingly high quality. Durability, form stability and environmental friendliness are important themes, as are an optimal climate for the mattresses and first-class hygiene. The latter can be achieved, for example, through the use of removable slip covers. But sleeping isn’t the only thing that is important when it comes to the bedroom. This room is increasingly becoming a wellness area to relax during the day. As the boundaries between the bedroom and the bathroom become less and less distinct, the bedroom is increasingly being transformed into a cosy place to relax.

Trade fairs at which the most important manufacturers present their products are also attended by the key associations of the sector. “Although we are expanding into Hall 5.2 this year, we will set up our lounge space in the centre of Hall 9,” said Ulrich Leifeld. “Once again the ultimate highlight for the segment – the meet@sleep party – will take place in the lounge area on the Tuesday of the trade fair.”

The next trade fair duo imm cologne/LivingInteriors will be held from 13th to 19th January 2014.
