China's CIFF enjoys domestic visitor boom

Despite reduced international attendance, CIFF Guangzhou 2021 recorded a visitor increase of +20.17% compared to 2019's show, the most recent edition held over two phases before the pandemic.

Having concluded on 31st March after a total of eight days, the 47th CIFF Guangzhou occupied 750,000 sqm of exhibition space divided among almost 4000 exhibitors, and attracted 357,809 qualified trade visitors.

Presenting a combination of innovative and commercial furnishing solutions, design events and conferences, the event again combined the entire sector's offer under one roof, while reaching out with events and business matching through the online CIFF Cloud platform (which obtained around 7.6 million views) and the CIFF mini app (which registered 2.36 million log-ins), enabling some input from foreign buyers unable to attend.

The event's organiser reports "corridors more crowded than ever, queues at the entrances to the stands, and packed conferences".

During the first phase, from 18th-21st March, the event's focus was on home living, including furniture and decor for indoor and outdoor use. The Home Furniture section offered "original solutions for the customisation of domestic environments, conceived as increasingly multifunctional and fluid spaces characterised by accessible design and quality, sustainability concepts involving the use of natural materials, and a captivating fusion of styles" – while associated design showcases shone a spotlight on China's rapidly evolving design scene.

The 48th CIFF Shanghai will take place from 3rd-6th September 2021 at the National Exhibition & Convention Center in Shanghai Hongqiao.
