Record numbers attended Decorex International, the luxury design and interiors show, last month. The new central location of Perks Field & The Orangery, Kensington Palace, proved a real draw, with nearly a quarter attending from overseas, contributing to an increase in visitor numbers. Over 300 exhibitors – comprising both well-established names and rising stars – were present.
This year saw the introduction of two new feature tents, Outdoor Living and Lifestyle.
Imaginative stands, starting with Kit Kemp’s Silk Route show entrance, set the bar high. A first for Decorex was the ambitious two-storey 'kirigami house', created by Harlequin London, winner of the Decorex Best Stand award. Runners-up And So To Bed provided a real Silk Route experience with an Arabian souk theme, and Lapicida showcased its striking new geometric flooring with an 18th century-inspired recreation of a stately home interior.
Contemporary brands such as Pinch Design and Aram joined design stalwarts Luke Irwin, Amy Somerville, Timorous Beasties and internationally-recognised names including de Gournay, Smallbone of Devizes and Missoni Home to display a wealth of new products.
The Seminar Theatre, with its exciting programme of recognised key note speakers – such as Alidad, Katherine Pooley, Tim Gosling and Staffan Tollgard – drew record numbers.
