Heimtextil sets benchmarks despite hindrances

German textile fair Heimtextil concluded on Friday, with organiser Messe Frankfurt reporting visitor numbers of around 67,500 (down from a reported 70,000 in 2018). The exhibition featured 3025 exhibitors from 65 countries.

"Exhibitors and visitors accepted the new trade fair concept with great enthusiasm and confirmed the trade fair’s position as the world’s most important meeting place for the industry," says Detlef Braun, Messe Frankfurt board member. "The quality of the decisionmakers impressed the exhibitors, as did the number of new business contacts from 156 countries, especially international ones – thus enabling Heimtextil to set a new benchmark. Around 67,500 visitors ensured that there was a busy atmosphere in the halls, despite a slight decline due to various reasons, such as difficult travel conditions on account of the storms in the alpine region and airport strikes in Germany."

This year's edition saw an optimised concept and new hall structure – the show now covers the entire exhibition site. A key focus was placed on sustainable textiles and the benefits of healthy sleep.

In addition to its renowned trend show, the fair also focused on contract business, particularly in the hotel and hospitality sector, as well as decorative and upholstery fabrics, digital printing solutions and wallpapers.

The next Heimtextil – its 50th edition – will take place from 7-10th January 2020.
