Autumn Long Point, which ran from 23rd-26th September across various showrooms in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, presented a strong complement of new product from more than 25 manufacturers and suppliers.
"Reports from exhibitors at our autumn event were good," says Andrew Mitchell, chair of the Long Eaton Guild of Furniture Manufacturers, which organises the event, and MD of Artistic Upholstery. "Whilst footfall was slightly down, those attending were treated to some new designs, fabrics, cabinets and bedroom furniture, and many were in a buying mood, with several showrooms reporting excellent sales and enquiries."
These included sofamaker Gascoigne Designs. "We were highly delighted and surprisingly shocked with the overwhelming interest and support throughout and following the exhibition," says MD David Gascoigne. "Receiving our best-ever sales for new products during any Long Point exhibition, we saw sales continue on customer repeat orders, contributing to our best weekly sales input figures for any week since 2008."
German bedroom manufacturer Wiemann also reported a successful event. "The show was very busy, with a great number of interested buyers," says Simon Hewitt, MD of Wiemann’s UK agent, Litmus Furniture.
The show again held a prize draw for visiting buyers. The prize – of overnight accommodation and dinner at Raymond Blanc’s Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons Hotel and Restaurant – was won by Sue Calvert, of Calverts Furniture (Taunton and Penzance).
Parker Knoll, Collins & Hayes and Siren Furniture were made associate members of the guild at the event.
"Long Point continues to be a major exhibition, with several manufacturers requesting to join us for 2020," concludes Andrew.
