Established in Singapore in 1976, HTL is a dynamic, global market-leading company, specialising in the manufacture and supply of leather and fabric upholstery to the UK’s leading furniture retailers.

As we expand our UK operations, we're seeking an ambitious and experienced area sales manager for northern England.

What will you be doing as our area sales manager?


As the area sales manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth within the independent customer sector, with a strong emphasis on new business development, as well as maintaining and growing our existing sales. The area sales manager will also provide ongoing training and support to our trading partners retail sales teams.

The role will require extensive travel within the region, and at overseas trade shows.

What will you need to become our area sales manager?


The successful candidate will have a passion for furniture, be well educated, ideally to degree level, with excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. You must be self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously, using your time effectively and planning efficiently. The successful candidate will need to possess good IT skills, being proficient with PowerPoint, Excel and Word. You must have a full, clean driving licence.

Job description

A field-based reporting to the MD, the area sales manager will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the profitable sale of the company’s products within the designated area, and will be fully responsible for delivering a competitive edge and significant value to HTL UK Ltd.

Fully accountable for driving new sales and enhancing existing customer accounts, the role must deliver financial gains to the business through excellent customer service, efficient processes, profit margin and successful delivery of our product to the customer, on time and in full.

Responsibilities

Sales and key account management


* Accountable for driving new business and expanding existing business
* Accountable for providing a first-class quality service to customers
* Responsible for ensuring daily, weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the MD
* Meeting and striving to exceed key performance indicators
* Management of regional key accounts
* Assist with price lists
* Liaise with other functions including internal sales and administration teams, and finance teams, throughout the business
* Identify and make recommendations regarding marketing where required
* Assist with solving issues within the delivery process, to meet on-time and in-full requirements
* Accountable for specific financial targets
* Establishing new initiatives that will contribute to the continuous development of the sales function
* To successfully manage change from inception through to conclusion
* Deliver regular staff training
* Obtain and report on customer feedback and market research
* Knowledge of the company’s and the competitors' products and services

Functional knowledge


* External and field sales experience 5+ years
* Extensive experience of furniture/retail industry
* Experience of key account management
* Experience of CRM desirable
* Experience of SAP desirable
* Microsoft Office skills Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint (basic to intermediate)

* Personable, confident and able to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
* Highly organised and methodical, taking pride in the accuracy and presentation of their work
* Able to use own initiative and displays willingness and enthusiasm to improve the customer experience
* Strong communicator and negotiator
* Ability to travel to customer locations throughout the designated territory. This may include overnight stays
* Ability to participate in trade shows in the UK and abroad. This may include weekend working
* Flexibility in working in an autonomous field-based role, involving occasional evening and weekend working hours
