FURNITURE NEWS SEPTEMBER 2025

This month, Furniture News is exploring the impact of influencer marketing on the furniture industry.

Influencers have always been present in one guise or another, but with the growth of social media the dial is turning past celebrities and towards more everyday people, whose only claim to fame is their ability to create content based on their personal lives (occasionally amassing vast numbers of online followers along the way).

In September’s issue, discover why and how influencers are changing the industry, which partnerships promise the best ROI, and how best to establish those connections.

We also interview Kate Hardcastle, whose new book, The Science of Shopping, will inform an exclusive series of columns over the coming year. Kate, who reflects on her partnership with Arighi Bianchi and the theory behind its novel Postcards From campaign, warns that retail is under threat from every angle – including online influencers – and suggests how the sector can fight back by better understanding shopper psychology and embracing innovative approaches.

And there’s plenty more to get to grips with, including retail concepts from Neatsmith and Love Your Home, an interview with TR Hayes’ Garry Preston, and previews of Long Point, the Autumn Furniture Show and the Bed Show (don’t forget to check out our annual Bed Buyer supplement, too).

We’ve also fresh thinking from Natalia Samodina, Clare Bailey, Adam Hankinson, Steve Pickering, Gordon Hecht and Richard Hanscott.
