Organisers of the all-new January Furniture Show are getting ready to celebrate the exhibition’s Silver Jubilee.
2015 marks the 25th consecutive year that a trade furniture show has been held at the NEC, Birmingham, making the event one of the most established in the industry.
The brainchild of industry exhibition stalwarts Stephen Richards and Phil Soar, the first NEC show in 1990 created a unique platform for the furnishings sector at a location that ensured it was a truly national event. Since then the show has been organised by a number of companies under a number of names – but has always been held at the Birmingham NEC in January.
Fast forward a quarter of a century and the new-look January Furniture Show 2015 at the NEC is set to remain the biggest furniture event in the UK next year.
To mark the occasion, directors of Furniture Fairs and new organisers of the event Laraine Janes and Theresa Raymond, are hosting a Silver Jubilee drinks party at the show. They said: “We’re delighted with the level of support for the show - 90% of the space is now sold.
“Although this will be the first year that we have organised the event, the show itself has been running for 25 years, making it one of the most established on the exhibition calendar - and testament to the fact that a furniture show at the NEC in January is the perfect time and place to exhibit.”
Furniture Fairs – which also runs the Manchester Furniture Show - has confirmed that the new format exhibition, to be held 13-15 January 2015, will be supported by every major brand that showed in 2014, with further big industry names confirming their attendance every day. They include La-Z-Boy, TCS, Buoyant, the Morris Furniture Group, Global Home, Rauch and PD Global, Parker Knoll, Duresta, G Plan Upholstery, Westbridge, Baker, Lebus, Ercol, Furniture Origins, Sherborne, Alstons, Mark Webster, Ashley Manor, Julian Bowen, Breasley, Vogue, Holroyd & Jones, Time Living, Marshall Arts, SWS Import, Gallery Direct, Exclusive (UK), Wilkinson Furniture, GLPC International and Harrison Brothers.
