The husband and wife team behind a Yorkshire-based furniture manufacturer recently celebrated the end of a successful 2015 and the beginning of what is expected to be an even more fruitful year ahead.
Clare and Steve Laidlaw, the couple at the helm of Distinctive Chesterfields situated in Honley, in Huddersfield, have witnessed the continued expansion of the family-run company, thanks to a hat-trick of highs in the past year.
The whirlwind year began with the launch of the company’s flagship chesterfield sofa firm – located at London’s St John’s Hill – at the end of June, 2015. With new staff on board, including a manager and assistant manager for the newly-opened London premises, it’s been onwards and upwards for Clare and Steve.
Expanding the business into America, Australia and Japan and Sweden since founding just eight years ago, the couple recently saw the launch of a New York showroom to mark the second milestone last year alone for Distinctive Chesterfields.
Completing the trio of successes for 2015/2016, Clare, Steve and the company’s international sales manager, Mark Denby, are set to open a third new showroom, this one in France. With the company now employing well over 30 staff, 2016 looks likely to be another great year in terms of recruitment, too.
Steve says: “The past year has been such a great one for us - not just here in our Honley workshop and showroom, but across the Distinctive Chesterfields brand in general – that we really can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for us all. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, who continue to put their all into ensuring the very best quality pieces leave our workshop, as well as the many friends, customers and fellow businesses who have supported us so far."
The newly-opened showrooms give people in the respective area a chance to see the brand’s furniture for themselves, with each premises stocking everything from leather suites and sofas, to wing back chairs and footstools.

Customers closer to Distinctive Chesterfields’ West Yorkshire showroom are still welcome to visit the brand in Yorkshire and browse furniture at a more convenient location.
