ACID webinar offers pre-show IP primer

A free-to-attend Anti-Copying in Design (ACID) webinar, taking place at 12th April 2022 at 11am GMT, aims to share insights on IP and design protection to achieve growth – topics that are particualrly pertinent to those exhibiting at April’s postponed January Furniture Show, states ACID. \

"Designers in the furniture and furnishings industry work in a diverse landscape," states ACID. "So, whether you design for homes, offices, schools, luxury yachts, restaurants or public places, or maybe you are a bespoke furnituremaker, the designs you create are all underpinned by intellectual property (IP) which needs to be protected.

"Great designers find solutions. This requires skill, talent, and an ability for many to translate a brief into market viability. They are the key players for how products look, feel, and perform. This vital experience is achieved by acquiring the relevant technical and industry knowledge, often, through sheer sweat equity. This has a significant value.

"British furniture designers and makers are some of the best in the world, but unfortunately there are those that want to take the fast track to market by free riding on your ideas and creativity to copy or 'adapt' them."

In the webinar, ACID’s co-founder and CEO, Dids Macdonald, OBE, will share some of her practical insights into building a proactive IP strategy to enhance growth and protect designs. With her will be Niall Head Rapson, a director at McDaniels Law and a design law expert.
