FIRA experts to branch out at specifiers event

An exclusive event, taking place on Wednesday 22nd May, is aimed at helping those who specify and source timber and timber products, such as furniture, understand their responsibilities under the new EU Timber Regulation.

The event, which has only a limited number of spaces, takes place from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at a location on Briset Street in Clerkenwell. Experts from FIRA, a leading body for the furniture industry, will give a short presentation and answer questions.

Dr. Asli Tamer-Vestlund, research and consultancy manager for FIRA, says: “This is a great opportunity for some free advice on the new EU Timber Regulation, which came into force on 3rd March. It prohibits placing illegally-harvested timber and timber products onto the EU market and has placed new responsibilities on the organisation placing the products on the market, when it may have been previously unaffected.

“The new Regulation is complex and I am still finding that many people are unaware of their legal obligations. Our awareness courses have been extremely popular and enable delegates to gain key support and guidance in understanding and meeting the requirements of the Regulation.”
