Classic Furniture takes over Furniture Origins UK's wholesale arm

The wholesale business of Furniture Origins UK Ltd, based in Abercynon, South Wales, will be taken over by Lincolnshire's Classic Furniture.

According to Classic Furniture director Andy Rippin, the company's Asian partner – also named Furniture Origins – made the decision to consolidate its UK distribution based on the strength of Classic Furniture's "infrastructure and overall wholesaling capabilities".

The development closely echoes the re-routing through Classic Furniture last November of the wholesale arm of Flexiload.

Redundancies at Furniture Origins UK Ltd have been announced (including that of MD Steve Egan), although it is understood that the company's sales agents – including UK sales director Barry Webb – will continue to execute the company's container business.

The hand-over of the delivery process is to be completed by 1st September.

"We have a month of starting to redirect deliveries," says Andy. "It should be a fairly seamless takeover – there's quite a big cross-over between our clients."

Furniture Origins UK Ltd was originally set up as a distribution arm of the Furniture Origins company. Classic Furniture is now the exclusive UK wholesaler for these products.

Classic Furniture's customers will benefit from access to several new ranges, including those unveiled by Furniture Origins UK at the Manchester Furniture Show last month.
