TFO to run bed training course

A course specifically aimed at helping bed industry professionals understand consumer law takes place next month. In response to a continued high-level of interest from both retailers and manufacturers, the Understanding Consumer Law and Bed Complaints training course run by friendly legal experts in consumer law, The Furniture Ombudsman (TFO), will take place on Tuesday 10th September.

“This course has proven to be extremely popular with bed industry professionals who want to gain a better understanding of consumer law in their specific sector and use what they learn from the course to develop the way they interact with customers.” said Jon Walters, Service Delivery Manager for TFO.

The course is run in conjunction with the National Bed Federation (NBF), the recognised trade association representing UK manufacturers of beds and mattresses and their suppliers. Keen to ensure that suitable training was created for its sector, the content was developed and delivered by TFO with the NBF’s involvement.

The course covers aspects on consumer legislation and its practical application, along with a guide to the common types of complaints in the beds sector. It also covers what to consider when evaluating a complaint and detailed examples of potential outcomes based on TFO’s experiences. TFO’s highly qualified trainers will help delegates gain an understanding of contracts and legal rights, including the Sale of Goods Act and Distance Selling Regulations.

Jon continues: “We use real-life case studies to show the types of issues that occur and how they have been resolved. Our course trainers are also experienced adjudicators, so we are in a unique position to be able to combine first-hand practical knowledge with an in-depth understanding of consumer law. We recommend that interested parties book their place now to avoid disappointment!”

The Furniture Ombudsman’s training programme includes courses in pricing and advertising compliance, customer relationship management and understanding consumer law including sector specific modules. Bespoke training can also be provided on request.

Places on the course cost £250, but members of the Ombudsman and NBF will receive a discounted rate. For more information or to book your place, please visit www.thefurnitureombudsman.org/training or email [email protected].
