Furniture Village donates pink sofa to breast cancer awareness campaign

One of the UK’s largest independent furniture retailers, Furniture Village, donated a pink sofa towards the Yorkshire in the Pink campaign launched by the breast cancer charity, The Yorkshire Haven.

At the start of October, the Haven team and Emmerdale actress Gaynor Faye sat down on the coral pink sofa from Furniture Village at the Victoria Quarter in Leeds. The Yorkshire in the Pink campaign aims to reach out and raise awareness of how The Yorkshire Haven, based in Leeds, can support those affected by breast cancer. Research shows that as recently as 2010, 49,564 women and 397 men in the UK were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. The charity hopes to encourage women to do ‘something pink’ to raise funds during October’s breast cancer awareness month. The campaign encouraged women to donate their unwanted bras to make a bra chain around The Yorkshire Haven at the end of October, signifying support for those affected by breast cancer.

MD Charles Harrison says: “Furniture Village is proud to help with a cause such as Yorkshire in the Pink which is fighting to raise awareness about this silent killer. We are always keen to support great causes and didn’t even think twice about donating the pink sofa towards the campaign event.”
