The Foam Company continues investment in new equipment

The Foam Company, one of the UK’s leading experts in foam products, has invested in a new top of the range wrapping machine for its mattresses.

The company has purchased a Sala automatic wrapping machine which is now in operation at its manufacturing facility in Abingdon. This investment further supports the company’s continuing development of its core Mammoth, SleepShaper and Revitalise products.

Michael Nash, MD, says: “We want to continue to bring new innovations to the market, with proven benefits to the consumer. We are passionate about product quality and have sourced the thickest and highest tensile strength plastic which means the mattress wrapping is nearly bulletproof.

“We want to be the best service provider in our industry, and the new wrapping machine is a step nearer to that.”

The top and bottom of the mattresses are wrapped with a second layer of plastic to avoid any scuff damage should the mattress be dragged for any reason and it is thumb resistant, which stops handlers’ thumbs piercing the plastic. This ensures the product arrives at its destination in good condition, even if it has been handled many times.

With the business continuing to grow the company recently doubled its operating space with a new southern distribution centre, allowing for the storage of 750 finished mattresses, enabling it to treble its production.

The company also increased its fleet of vehicles, which are used for weekly and next day deliveries to all areas of the UK. This now includes 7.5 tonne trucks, 3.5 tonne Luton vans and a mobile unit.
