Bed manufacturer Silentnight has announced it will sponsor young UK athlete Amy Gornall. Amy, aged 19 from Barnoldswick, has been honing her talent for the last six years and in 2016 will be cycling professionally with Podium Ambition Pro Cycling in 2016, a UCI (International Cycling Union) Women's Team. As part of this, Amy can complete in all the major women’s road races internationally, including potentially the UCI Women's Road World Cup.

As part of the sponsorship, Amy will receive financial aid to support with her training costs, plus a new Silentnight bed, whilst branding for the bedmaker will be featured on Amy’s training clothes.

Amy says: “I am delighted that Silentnight has chosen to support me and I can’t wait to take them on this adventure with me. 2016 is looking like a great year thanks to my participation in the Podium Ambition team, which will take me to international level, and as I continue in my efforts to reach the Commonwealth Games.

“My overall aim is to be a professional cyclist at the highest level in women's cycling in the world and I’m grateful to Silentnight for their help in trying to get me there.”

Amy has twice been crowned regional champion, has two bronze medals from the Junior National Championships, represented Wales twice and last year won the Great Orme Race.

Nick Booth, marketing director as Silentnight, adds: “Amy is an inspiration as an athlete and is already achieving great success in her cycling career, so we’re excited to see where she will go next. When we first met Amy she mentioned how important a good night’s sleep was for her success so we thought what better way to support her than with a new bed!”
