New appointments at ScS

Sofa and carpet specialist, ScS, has announced the appointment of Farren Murphy as commercial manager.

Farren has a wealth of experience in the flooring industry and, working alongside ScS’ national flooring controller, Charles Coombs, and national flooring operations manager, Keith Morgan, aims to further grow and develop this area of the business.

Prior to his role at ScS, Farren held the position of regional manager at Carpetright for more than eight years, where he was responsible for sales in the South West, North West and Midlands. Formerly, he was also national operations manager at Storey Carpets, a subsidiary of Carpetright, where he managed the closure of this part of the business, as well as the transition of some stores into the Carpetright brand.

From the outset of his career, Farren showed a passion for the flooring sector, starting his journey at Allied Carpets as Warehouse Assistant, before working his way up to managing one of the company’s largest stores by the age of 22. His new position further strengthens the ScS Group’s senior management team and follows the recent appointment of Elaine Ray as brand development director for the company’s House of Fraser concession business.

The furniture and flooring giant has also appointed Lacey Hewison as head of operational improvement. Lacey has extensive experience of managing business improvement projects, working for brands including Orange and Talk Talk, as well as in the transport and logistics industry.

As well as project management and governance, Lacey will review the company’s business processes and help to optimise their efficiency. Lacey will play a key role as ScS continues to invest in technology, including the design and implementation of a new operating system to support the Group’s future growth plans.

Kevin Royal, MD at ScS, says: “The two new senior appointments will help towards our growth plans for 2017 and beyond. Farren will be an invaluable asset for expanding our already growing flooring offering, while Lacey’s background is imperative for driving the business forward.

“We’re delighted to have two outstanding professionals joining the business and are excited to see the business develop as a result.”

Farren says: “I am delighted to be joining the ScS team at such an exciting time, and I look forward to working with Charles, Keith and the wider team to support the company and develop its flooring business even further.”
