Housing Units marks 70th year of trading

Housing Units marked its 70th year of trading this month, celebrating a rich heritage as one of the North-west’s most established home furnishing stores.

Established in 1947, the family business has evolved from a simple builder’s merchants into a bustling retail destination, with ambitious expansion plans for 2017. This includes the £1.5m expansion of its distribution centre, and plans to invest a further £3.5m to create new retail and dining spaces.

To mark its 70th, Housing Units launched a search for its longest-standing customer, celebrating the shopper who has shared most in its history. Customers will also be treated to various deals over the coming months to thank them for their loyalty.

The business reported growth in retail and online sales in 2016. Its two on-site eateries continue to rise in popularity.

Nick Fox, CEO at Housing Units, says: “A lot has changed since we first opened in 1947, but one thing that has stayed constant is our focus on personalised customer service. Traditional touches, such as being welcomed by our famous doormen on arrival at the store, remain at the heart of the Housing Units experience. Through continuing to listen to the customer, and investing in improving their in-store and online shopping experience, we hope for another 70 years of success."
