NEJ Stevenson receives grant to expand business

A high-end Warwickshire manufacturing company has won vital backing in its plans for expansion.

NEJ Stevenson, a designer and manufacturer of fine furniture based in Church Lawford near Rugby, is investing heavily in its future and has received support through the Business Ready programme.

NEJ Stevenson, which has a Royal Warrant for its bespoke products and has made finely-crafted furniture for, among others, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, has doubled in size in two years and wants to grow further.

It is extending its current base in Church Lawford and is also buying new machinery. It has received a grant of £35,000 towards the costs through Warwickshire County Council.

The funding is supporting both companies to grow more quickly, create new jobs and help to drive the manufacturing sector in the region.

Neil Stevenson of NEJ Stevenson, says: “The support from Warwickshire County Council is fantastic. They have a real commitment to manufacturing and understand that SMEs are the driving force of the economy and real job creators. The level of assistance makes a great difference, allowing us to buy better equipment and move more quickly. We are now looking at our recruitment to help us fulfil our increasing order book.”

Business Ready is delivered by the University of Warwick Science Park and is part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Business Support Programme, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Warwickshire County Council.

Janette Pallas, of Business Ready, said: “NEJ Stevenson is a great example of some of the high-end, high-quality manufacturing going on Warwickshire.

“It supplies to everyone from royalty to museums and is renowned for the quality of its manufacturing.

“It is great to hear the company found the process of applying for the grants through Warwickshire County Council straight forward and that it will have a positive impact on its growth, on jobs and the economy of the region.”
