Hypnos and Amira Hashish collaborate with Furniture Village

Royal warrant holder Hypnos has partnered exclusively with Furniture Village to launch its collection of beds from its latest collaboration with interiors journalist and designer, Amira Hashish.

Launching this month and available until the end of August, the limited-edition collection brings together emerging British fabric makers, with Hypnos’ 100 years of master craftsmanship, quality and unrivalled comfort, all under the expert vision of Amira who has designed and curated the collection.

Working with London-based, fashion-focused Insley & Nash, which specialises in traditional screen printing, and digital fabric producer Flock, which represents young textile maker, Angela Jane Johnston, the collaboration is a celebration of traditional furniture making skills and new technology, creating striking beds in a new way for a design-conscious customer.

The collection, which features three beds – The Swan, The Med and The Sand - is Amira’s product design debut, having worked in the industry for more than 10 years as a respected journalist, consultant and television personality for all things interiors. The range is available to buy at Furniture Village’s Kingston, Tunbridge Wells, Croydon, Enfield, Friern Barnet and Brighton stores, as well as online.

Amira explains: “When Hypnos approached me to design a boutique bed collection I knew we had an exciting project on our hands. Our vision was to combine Hypnos’ 100 years of craftsmanship and British heritage with contemporary looks and fabric printing techniques. We created all the patterns from scratch, where I drew on my own inspiration as well as trends which I believe will stand the test of time.”

From a sumptuous Marylebone apartment to a Mediterranean villa or a Scandinavian retreat, each bed in the collection - The Sand, The Med and The Swan - is designed to make the bed the centre piece of the room, bringing style and comfort together for modern living.

Chris Ward, group marketing director at Hypnos, says: “At Hypnos we have perfected the art of sleep for over a century and our beds and mattresses are engineered to create the perfect environment for sleep. We have nurtured this craft and we wanted to look at how we could combine our traditional skills with a new generation of British designers and fabric makers. Working with Amira has been the perfect partnership to bring this concept to life and we’re delighted to partner exclusively with Furniture Village to offer this collection to its customers.”

Rebecca Maloy, bed buyer at Furniture Village, says: “We don’t just sell beds, we sell a great night’s sleep. As back-to-back winners of ‘Bed Retailer of the Year', championing a combination of comfort, quality and design is at the heart of our bed offering. This commitment to craftsmanship and style is why the Amira and Hypnos collaboration is ideal for Furniture Village and will prove popular with our customers.”
