Highgate quashes Zero Gravity trademark appeal

After a two-year legal battle, Matza & Co has asserted its ownership of the Zero Gravity trademark, which is licensed to Highgate Beds.

Despite an appeal made to cancel the trademark by Platinum Enterprise (T/A Bodyease) last December, Matza & Co has successfully defended its rights to the wording, which refers to "the feeling and comfort when lying on their specially-developed technology within their mattresses".

In a prepared statement, the defendant states: "While it has been a very stressful time, we are now glad that we can go forward with our Zero Gravity trademark once again, and ensure it is exclusive to us.

"We would like to thank professor Ruth Annand for settling the final appeal, as well as Oliver Morris, registrar, who fairly judged the case."
