BFM appoints education and training manager

The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) has appointed Lisa Williamson to its new role of education and training manager.

Lisa joins the association from a pivotal senior management position in operations and quality at Occupational Awards Limited (OAL). In her new role, she will be responsible for working with the industry to continue to develop and promote apprenticeship standards. She will also help grow and develop the BFM's education and training offer to support the industry, working in partnership with OAL.

She has a strong reputation within the furniture and wood industries, and more than 18 years' experience in the design, development and delivery of qualifications. Lisa has been working closely with employers, trade bodies and stakeholders in the furniture, wood and related industries for over 10 years, and is a liveryman with The Furniture Makers' Company.

Lisa says: "I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity with the BFM and working more closely with the furniture industry to further develop education and training opportunities."

Jackie Bazeley, BFM MD, adds: "The BFM recognises the ongoing importance of education and training to ensure the sustainability of our workforce to compete globally. I saw the opportunity to harness Lisa's expertise and a partnership with OAL to further our work towards this goal."

Justine Fosh, group CEO, OAL, comments: "The BFM and OAL will be working together under an agreement to raise the awareness of apprenticeships in the industry and improve access whilst ensuring that qualifications and end point assessment are aligned to the industry vision."
