New agent for Sweet Dreams in Scotland

Following the retirement of agent Stevie McCann, who had worked with manufacturer Sweet Dreams for 23 years, Darrell Tough took over responsibility for sales in Scotland last month.

Darrell, who lives in Larbert between Edinburgh and Glasgow, has worked in the industry for almost 40 years. He started out in retail in the late 1970s, where he worked for the Sterling Furniture Group as a salesman at its flagship store in Tillicoultry, then relocated with his family in 1990 when the group opened a new store in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

Darrell also managed Sterling’s Glasgow store before seeking a new challenge and becoming a manufacturer’s agent in the late 1990s, working for many years with Morris Furniture and Buoyant Upholstery.

Darrell says he is looking forward to a long-term relationship with Sweet Dreams. "I’m excited about joining one of the most prestigious bed companies in the industry," he says. "It’s good to be aboard – I admire Sweet Dreams especially because they don’t stand still, and their wide portfolio and extensive product range are testament to that. I’m a long-term kind of guy – I’ve been married to my wife Sally for 35 years – and I enjoy the stability that working with this kind of established company brings."

Nick Williams, Sweet Dreams’ sales manager, says: "We are delighted to welcome Darrell to the company and I’m very pleased to have him on board as our new agent for Scotland – Darrell has excellent contacts and product knowledge in both the bed and upholstery businesses, which we’ll value.

"It’s also important to note that Stevie McCann will be missed by everyone at Sweet Dreams very much. He has worked tirelessly for the company and is liked and respected throughout the industry. We all wish him a long and very happy retirement."

Sweet Dreams celebrate 30 years in business this year, and will reveal a special Anniversary collection at the NBF Bed Show.
