New guild website honours the memory of industry pioneer

The Long Eaton Guild now boasts a new website to promote its biannual Long Point exhibitions, courtesy of digital creative agency, Orbital Vision.

Orbital waived the fee for the project, instead asking that it is donated to St Michael’s Hospice in East Sussex, in memory of former guild chairman, Matt O’Flynn, the co-founder of Orbital, who passed away from cancer in March.

Matt chaired the guild from 2007-19, and spent much of that time working for his family's business, Meadowmead, purveyor of the John Sankey and Henderson Russell upholstery brands. He also served as chairman of the BFM from 2016. In 2017 he helped realign his friend Rob Walker's digital design agency to focus on the interiors industry. As well as presiding over a new industry meeting hub, The Exchange, Orbital is at the forefront of CG product visualisation, and specialises in the digital recreation of upholstery fabric.

The hospice has responded to the guild's £500 donation with gratitude: “Thank you so much for your overwhelmingly generous donation given in memory of Mr Matt O’Flynn. What an incredible gift, which will enable the hospice to continue to support many more people. As you know, our services are provided free, and we are reliant on the kindness of people like you who give so generously in order for others to benefit from the support we offer. On behalf of the team at St Michael’s Hospice, thank you. Your generosity is heart-warming.”
