Houseology in administration

Online retailer Houseology (Houseology Design Group Ltd) went into adminstration last week, and has ceased to trade.

Stuart Robb and Michelle Elliot of Leonard Curtis Recovery were appointed joint administrators on 23rd January, and are now seeking buyers.

Glasgow-based interior design ecommerce hub Occa-Home was founded by Kate Mooney in 2010, and rebranded to Houseology in 2015 following a successful investment round, before raising more money via crowdfunding in 2016. It was backed by retail heavyweights including Sir Terry Leahy (Tesco), Bill Dobbie ( Iomart), Jill Little (John Lewis) and Bob Willett (Best Buy).

After accumulating losses and poor recent trading pushed the brand to collapse, 23 staff were made redundant. One member of staff contacted Furniture News, reporting a "dire state of affairs" in the wake of the administration.

Sister company Bureau continues to trade as normal.
