Informa Markets, the organiser of Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), the biggest industry trade show in South-east Asia, has decided to postpone MIFF 2021 from 8-11th March to 1st-4th September.
The 2021 event will be held at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). In the absence of a physical show in March, the second edition of MIFF's online event, MIFF Furniverse, will take place from 8-12th March 2021, to offer global furniture buyers additional sourcing opportunies.
The organiser says the decision took feedback from exhibitors and buyers into account, and was the best choice for the global furniture community.
Dato’ Tan Chin Huat, founder and chairman of MIFF, says: “We feel the new dates will offer our exhibitors and buyers the best experience, while offering the industry the opportunity to convene and trade virtually in the meantime. MIFF 2021 will come back with a hybrid of physical and digital business solutions, to provide a greater trade experience to the MIFF community.
"We would like to thank the exhibitors, buyers and friends who have continued to communicate with us during this period.”
Steve Ong, president of Muar Furniture Association, MIFF's strategic partner, adds: “We look forward to the MIFF 2021 show in September. Our members, the Malaysian manufacturers, are ready and excited to come back and serve global furniture trade demand. We will continue to work closely with MIFF in order to sustain the development of the Malaysian furniture industry and enhance Malaysia's furniture exports."
Launched in August this year, MIFF Furniverse attracted 70 exhibitors and 922 total visits from buyers across 84 countries and regions. It also attracted new buyers (30% of the total) who had not visited MIFF before. Informa Markets states that over 2400 business leads were generated, and that exhibitors expected sales of $1.16m as a consequence.
