Dunelm appoints Arja Taaveniku as non-executive director

Dunelm has appointed Arja Taaveniku as a non-executive director. She will join the homewares retailer's board on 15th February, and will be a member of the Audit and Risk, Remuneration and Nominations committees.  

Arja is an experienced business leader, having spent over 30 years in leadership positions with a number of international retail organisations. She was with IKEA Group between 1989 and 2012, where she fulfiled various roles, including seven years as a global business director.

Between 2012-15 she was CEO of Ikano Group, a privately owned international business that develops, owns and manages companies in consumer banking, insurance, residential and shopping centres, as well as being a franchisee of IKEA stores. From 2015-18 Arja, was on the group executive board for Kingfisher, acting as CEO of its subsidiary, Kingfisher International Products.

Arja is chair of the board at Svenska Handelsfastigheter AB, and holds non-executive director positions at Nobia Group, Handelsbanken and Mekonomen Group.

Chairman of Dunelm, Andy Harrison, says: "I am delighted to welcome Arja to our board. She brings a breadth of knowledge from international home retail businesses, with specific expertise in the strategic and operational development of customer value propositions and product range development, alongside environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.
