Distribution centre investment to benefit JYSK's UK operation

Global retailer JYSK plans to begin the construction of a new distribution centre in Lelystad, Holland, next spring, which will create more than 350 jobs once fully operational.

Even as JYSK establishes the company's 9th European distribution centre – in Escer, Hungary (pictured) – it has been busy planning its 10th. On 4th June, JYSK signed the contract for a 25-hectare plot in Lelystad, Holland. The new distribution centre will require an investment of some €200m before it is operational in 2024.

“We are really happy with the location in Lelystad," says JYSK's executive VP logistics, Allan K Kjærgaard. "It is very close to the harbour of Flevokust, which is a logistics hub in Holland, making it easy to transport our products to and from the distribution centre.”

The new distribution centre will deliver products to JYSK stores and customers in Holland, Belgium, the UK and Ireland, and as well as offering a faster, better delivery service, it will also save the company's vehicles approximately six million trucking km a year.
