Bensons moves into new stores this week

Bensons for Beds is moving into new stores in Orpington and Paisley this week.

In Orpington, the retailer has taken a lease at Springvale Retail Park on Sevenoaks Way, and will relocate into the former Halfords unit, trading alongside Currys/PC World, Wren Kitchens and Argos.

There, Bensons has moved a few hundred yards from its previous location on the retail park, which it had shared with Harveys until June last year. At more than 7700 sqft, including a mezzanine floor of nearly 2000 sqft, the store employs five colleagues. Bensons’ MD for retail, Alan Williams, says: “Orpington is a great location for us and we’re looking forward to being part of its future. The new store will allow us to display our best ranges more effectively and make sure that customers make the right choice.”

The store will be run by Jamie Collins, who has been with the business for two years at stores including Tunbridge Wells and Gillingham.

In Paisley, Bensons has leased Unit 9 on the Abbotsinch Retail Park on Washington Road in Renfrewshire, where neighbours include B&Q, Pets at Home and Wren Kitchens.

Again, Bensons has moved a short distance from its previous location on the park, which it had shared with Harveys. At more than 5700 sqft, including a mezzanine of nearly 2900 sqft, the new store is situated just six miles from Glasgow city centre.

The store will be run by Barry Foreman, who has been with the business for 20 years at stores including Uddingston and East Kilbride.

Both stores will open on Friday 6th August, offering customers an additional 10% off items bought over the weekend.
