Sofa group ushers new CEO into place

Mark Smith, CEO of TCM Living, the UK-based sofa designer, developer and manufacturer behind the Alstons Upholstery, Ashley Manor, AMX Design and Alexander & James brands, has informed the group's board of his decision to step back from his current position, effective from 31st December 2021, following over 20 years with the Group.

Mark will be succeeded by Jonathan Fearn (pictured), currently CFO.

Mark has led the group for more than two decades, including overseeing its transition from DM Midland to TCML Group. Jonathan will take over as CEO on 1st January 2022, following a four-month handover period to ensure a smooth transition. Mark will remain with the group in the role of vice chairman.

Jonathan has been with the company since 3rd August 2020, following his role as CFO of Shoe Zone, and brings a wealth of experience in strategic and operational finance within the consumer sector, at both privately owned and publicly quoted businesses.

Pimol Srivikorn, chairman of TCM Corporation, says: “On behalf of myself and the group, I would like to thank Mark for his unerring commitment, enthusiasm and hard work as CEO of TCM Living, successfully leading the business over the past 20 years. Under his leadership, the group has expanded and grown from strength to strength, broadening customer appeal through acquisitions and partnerships, and creating a robust platform for long-term growth. I have no doubt that the succession period will run smoothly and look forward to continuing to work closely with Jonathan, building on his substantial contribution to the group’s progress as CFO over the past year.”

Mark comments: “It has been a privilege to grow and lead TCM Living, taking my ideas and developing them from humble beginnings over 20 years ago to where the group is today – which is something far bigger and more significant than I ever dreamed of. I would like to thank my colleagues for their hard work, commitment and loyalty, and I cherish the lifelong friendships I’ve made along this journey.

"My passion for the business and the people in it is as strong as ever, which is why I am so pleased to be able to retain my involvement through my upcoming new role as vice chairman.”

Jonathan states: “I feel honoured to be taking on the position of CEO at TCM Living Group, and I am very much looking forward to continuing to build this excellent business alongside our great employees and colleagues. In my role as CFO, I have very much enjoyed working alongside Mark as well as each and every individual within the business, and I am confident that we will continue to drive the group forward as we continue to establish ourselves as market leaders.”
