Bed industry supplier joins livery company

The Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and charity to the furnishing industry, has welcomed bedding industry supplier John Cotton Group as a corporate member.

The John Cotton Group is a family company established in 1916 with a strong traditional British textile heritage, based in West Yorkshire. With an annual group turnover of more than £200m, the group employs over 1300 people and operates across the globe in UK and Continental Europe, Asia and Australasia.

The group is split into two main categories, including the Nonwovens Division and the Home Textiles Division, which is Europe’s leading supplier of filled bedding products.

The Nonwovens Division, which is based at its head office in Mirfield, supplies some of the UK’s largest brands including Silentnight, Hypnos, Vispring, Sealy, Dreams, Relyon and B&Q.

Corporate membership provides opportunities for businesses from the trade to support the company’s charitable activities, get involved with civic events and network with other members. Up to three representatives can be chosen to be admitted as corporate liverymen.

Mark Baron, sales and marketing director at John Cotton Group, will be formally admitted as a corporate liveryman at a ceremony at Furniture Makers’ Hall in London this June.

Mark says: “The John Cotton Group are pleased to be admitted as a corporate member of The Furniture Makers’ Company. John Cotton has been providing businesses within the furniture industry with innovative and credible products for over 100 years, particularly in the bed mattress market. It therefore feels only natural to become members of a sincere and relevant organisation that offers charitable and educational work as well as championing excellence within the industry. We look forward to being involved and offering support where needed.”

David Woodward, master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, adds: “We are very pleased to welcome John Cotton Group as a corporate member. Our corporate members are of the greatest importance to us. We are delighted that so many different companies from the wider furnishing industry understand the importance of joining as members and supporting our charitable endeavours. All members, individual or corporate, are invited to participate in the many events in the city livery calendar, which are great for networking, entertaining, as well as having fun. We look forward to admitting Mark as a corporate liveryman at a formal ceremony at Furniture Makers’ Hall soon.”
