As part of its ongoing Beyond Education campaign, the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA) will run advisory clinics for students with industry-leading designers and manufacturers at the New Designers exhibition, which takes place from 24th June to 4th July at London's Business Design Centre.
The association will also present the BCFA New Designers Award, offering one student a placement with BCFA member Nova Interiors.
Supported by The Furniture Makers’ Company and the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), the one-to-one advisory sessions will allow students to gain valuable career advice and receive feedback on portfolios. A host of industry-leading interior designers, product designers and manufacturers including Fahmeed Khalique, Camira and Brintons are set to take part in the consultations, all of which are BCFA members. Students can book an appointment by visiting the Silent Gliss Showroom.
The BCFA will also present its New Designers Award to one student exhibiting in Week Two. Providing an invaluable insight into commercial design, the award has also paved the way for previous winners’ success in the industry. 2014 winner Jessica Leigh Calvert is now a designer at BRU Textiles and 2010 winner Lois Norman is a senior designer at Brintons Carpets.
The BCFA’s Beyond Education campaign aims to help cultivate young design talent by providing an interface between industry and education.
