The British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA)’s conceptual celebration of industry innovation and vision received an enthusiastic response from visitors at Clerkenwell Design Week. BCFA members were also busy, with Brintons, Morgan, Interface, Johnson Tiles, Gx Glass, GGI and others opening the doors of their showrooms and taking stands to showcase their collections.
Designed by BCFA member Elegant Clutter, the specially-commissioned BCFA stand was inspired by the fact that its membership makes up a large concentration of creative brains within the industry. Examining how the human mind’s individuality, intuitiveness and ability to inspire emotion marks it as the ideal creative tool, easily surpassing computers. The installation featured multiple translucent, acrylic brains inscribed with those elements which contribute to, and result from, creativity. In recognition of the way the human mind has been creating and designing for far longer than technology, the installation celebrated the natural over the digital.
BCFA representatives were on hand throughout the week to speak about both its 250+ members and the services the association itself provides – from support with export to networking opportunities. Copies of a specially designed BCFA brochure modelled on the stand concept were also distributed.
The stand drew the attention of thousands of guests who visited the Design Factory and many took to twitter to commend the concept and post photos.
